Concept Statement
Blockletter is a display font inspired by blackletter typography, simplified into a more modern, geometric style.
Sketching
Initial sketches of the font to understand basic forms and begin to build a system.
Iteration
After sketching, initial digital versions are made, many rounds of refinement are necessary. Any small change to a letterform effects the rest.
Kit of Parts
In order to maintain cohesion across the entire font, all letterforms are assembled from a set of the same shapes, angles, and curves.
Similarly, the font uses a consistent width, height, and grid system for each letter.
