The Fighting Bull
Objective
Design a simple, black and white graphic representation of a chosen animal using basic shapes, lines and point to capture both the animals tangible and intangible characteristics.
Research
Documented images and listed important aspects of the bull. The main attributes that stood out were the bulls large, muscular figure, and power. Additionally, the bulls solitary demeanor and painful life was an interesting, often overlooked concept to keep in mind moving forward.

Sketching
Sketched and explored potential directions, starting with more realistic depictions of the creatures and simplifying towards the shapes that would eventually become the final mark.
Digital Iterations
A solid foundation for the mark was established, which was translated and refined the into a digital version of the design using Illustrator.
Final Mark
Harsh lines and sharp angles show the bulls strength, linear sequences create depth, and the pose looking away from the viewer highlights it’s solitarity life and confience.
Creature Phrase
Integrated the mark into a larger composition. The phrase “waiting for the moment to claim it’s throne, the fighting bull stands alone” was placed in a geometric scene which maintains the same axial systems established in the original mark, while also adding color that was not present before.
